Make It Clap returned with the return of DJs Nick Toth, K-Note and MC Laylo from their world trip spanning the
Caribbean, Toronto, New York, London & Austria. Spreading their wings over 3 continents, the boys brought back nuff
Dub Plates and were pumped up for a night of pure riddims. (A dub plate is a personalized recording of a
dancehall/soca artiste voicing the DJs).
This also marked Sydney’s First Reggae Dance Competition and word of the dance spread
like an open fire. The phones were ringing off the hook and emails clogged the in-box as people enquired about
entries. At the end of the night, 9 contestants battled it out for the crown of "dancehall queen" plus a winner
takes all cash of $300.
The crowd was appreciative of the entertainment and the winner selected on crowd response only. A foreign
contingent stepped forward with girls from Trinidad, Sierra Leone, France, Jamaica, Japan and
Australia. But it was "MEM" the bubbler from Sierra Leone doing the damage
and bowling out the contestants with an ultra dutty wine!
It was strictly big chunes as the selectas / sound crews dropped the best in Dancehall & Soca with the hit
song, Goodas Fi Dem from Tony Matterhorn, Hit
Maker from Capleton and Woman By My Side from Peter Ram... big up
Bajan Massive!!!!!
