New York: Sept 7, 2007 The 2007 International Soca Awards which were held last weekend in New York saw a host of Trinidad and Tobago artistes walking away with some of the night's top prizes. Machel Montano took home a total of eight prizes Male Soca Performer of the Year, Overall Male Soca Artist of the Year, Favorite Up-tempo Soca Male for Jumbie which also won the award for Best Soca Music Video of the Year, Soca Artist Album/CD of the Year for Book of Angels. His collaborations with Vybz Kartel and Patrice Roberts took Best Raga Soca Collaboration and Best Soca Collaboration Up-tempo. Montano also received the Soca Awards Organization Trustees Award. Another member of the HD camp Kernel Roberts won for Soca Song Writer of the Year. While Shurwayne Winchester took the title of Male Soca Vocalist of the Year for Alequa. Soca Duo or Group of the Year was awarded to 3 Canal. Overall Female Soca Artist of the Year went to Nadia Batson. T&T's lone soca station Trinibashment 91.9FM won for Best Soca Compilation Album/CD of the Year. Crazy's One Foot Cock took the title of Soca Humor of the Year he also captured the title of Veteran Brake through Artist of the Year for Cold Sweat with Favorite Groove Soca Female for I Dare You going to Destra Garcia.
