Junior Reid Tours Australia / New Zealand in the land down under for the first time!

Sydney, Australia: Dec10th, 2007

Slingshot Touring and Make It Clap! present:

JUNIOR REID
- one blood 2007 -

We are proud to announce one of reggae music's biggest stars on his first ever Australian tour. It is not often one gets to enjoy the passionate and inspiring performance of a true Jamaican legend up close and personal, so don't miss Mr Reid's only Sydney show on Friday December 14th at the brand new venue, The Oxford Art Factory, Darlinghurst.

Junior Reid had a tough upbringing in West Kingston's Waterhouse district, notorious for being one of the most dangerous places in Jamaica. It was there in the politically turbulent mid-'70's that he recorded his first single "Know Myself" at the age of 14 for the late Hugh Mundell. By the early 80's, commissioned by the great Sugar Minott, he recorded a number of popular tunes such as "Human Nature", "A1 Lover", and the evergreen "See How Me Black See How Me Shine", an uplifting and proud anthem to the ghetto youth whom Reid increasingly championed.

He moved on to King Jammy's studio on St. Lucia Road where "Boom Shack-A-Lack" led to his first UK hit and fine singles including "Youthman", "Bank Clerk", "Sufferation", "Give Thanks and Praises" and "Higgler Move". His chance to a wider audience came with the offer to replace Michael Rose in Black Uhuru.

Reid has also excelled as a producer, with credits including much of Snow's second album, as well as dancehall artist Ninjaman and reggae legends such as Dennis Brown and Gregory Issacs.

Since the early 90's his sweet vocals have been used numerous times in hip hop and electronic music, most notably in collaborations with Wu-Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, Poor Righteous Teachers, Coldcut and The Soupdragons.

Junior Reid was recently brought back into superstardom by working with West Coast rapper The Game on "It's Okay (One Blood)" and New York's MIMS on "This Is Why I'm Hot Remix", both highly successful singles all around the world.

Follow-up collabos with Jim Jones, Fabolous, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, T-Pain and most recently with Alicia Keys on the reggae remix of her smash 'No One', cement his status as reggae ambassador to younger generations of listeners.
