Bounty Killer No Show for BEST OF THE BEST

Kingston, Jamaica: May 23rd 2008

Hundreds of patrons may be disappointed this Memorial weekend as Bounty Killer might not be appearing on the 'Best of the Best' concert in Miami, Florida, due to problems getting a United States work permit.

A release issued yesterday stated, "The management of Bounty Killer regrettably announces that he will not be appearing at this year's staging of the 'Best of the Best'."

"Bounty's work permit had expired some time ago and due to a number of factors conspiring against us - an administrative backlog, his passport needing to be renewed, the US Embassy in Kingston's overloaded appointment system, and his intensive travel schedule (for example, the European tour), he could not get the work permit application processed and an appointment at the embassy in time for this weekend."

A representative from the artiste's management team told The STAR: "They tried everything humanly possible to fast track this process, but time simply ran out. We are only just going public with the situation because up until the embassy closed for the public holiday, we were still trying."

The representative also commented that Bounty Killer's US visa was intact.

"It (the visa) has in no way been cancelled or revoked and we can assure his US fans that he will return very soon. We apologise to his many fans that have made plans to attend 'Best of the Best' to see him perform and hope they enjoy the many other talented and entertaining acts billed for the show."

When contacted, it appeared that the promoters of the show were still in the dark about Bounty's misfortune. travel documents.

"I didn't hear about him (Bounty Killer having problems with travel documents), I heard about Mavado, and as far as we know, they will all still be performing," Patricia, an administrative assistant to promoter Joey Budefuco said.

'Best Of The Best' 2008 is scheduled to take place Sunday, May 25, at Bicentennial Park (1075 Biscayne Blvd), downtown Miami.

Other artistes to be featured on the show include the original don dada Super Cat, Buju Banton aka Gargamel, Beenie Man, Sizzla, Junior Reid, Barrington Levy, soca king Machel Montano, Tarrus Riley, Mavado, Etana, Dean Frasier, Assassin, Serani, Bling Dawg, New Kidz, Shifta, Demarco, Bugle, Screechy Dan, Rockefella and Dilly Chris.

'Best Of The Best' 2008 will be hosted by Bobby Konders and Jabba, DJ Khaled, Jamusa, Ron Burke, Tony Matterhorn, 800-Bungie, Walshy, Mr Slater, DJ Roy and Steelie.
