Producer promises great music for Lucian Carnival '08!

London, UK: Apr 2nd, 2008

There is little doubt that St Lucian artistes and music producers have in the past few years been stepping up their game. From their general fashion panache to their performance and quality of music, for the most, they now truly look the part. Slowly but surely their efforts are paying dividends as evident by recent breakthroughs on the regional and international scene.

The thrust of taking things to another level was manifested again here on Saturday when the award winning producer Courtney "Curty" Louis held a music junket and release party. And let's just say, the St Lucian stars did look chic on the night, including Nicole David who was as hot as her music.

The event took place on Saturday March 29 at the Pulse night club in Rodney Bay. It brought together several of the artistes Curty has worked with, including Ninja Dan, Q-Pid, Nicole David, Kerian Piper, Jessica, Mantius and Sexy J as well as Emrand Henry with whom he will be working for the first time. Other music industry officials and producers like Penn and Ace were also present.

Minister for Tourism Allen Chastanet who spoke at the gathering commended the St Lucian artistes for the strides they have made recently. He also hinted that efforts will be made for an increase in the budget for Carnival this year. Last year the government pumped EC$1 million into the annual event.

The CDF Director Mr Teddy Francis also lauded the producers, Curty in particular, for their state of readiness for this year's Carnival. He commented that already one Carnival band had had their launch, and the release party coming on its heels spoke volumes of the growth and vibrancy of the Carnival which he predicted would be branded "2K Great."

Other speakers included journalist Toni Nicholas who has worked with Curty and some of his artistes before, as well as Ian Sanchez of HMS and journalist Carmy Joseph the main organizer of the night. For his part Courtney Louis thanked those who had made his journey possible thus far including his father and brother who were present, as well as the artistes, particularly Ninja and Q-pid who were there from the start.

For the remainder of the evening, whilst guest savoured the eats and drinks which were on the house and mingled, the house DJs previewed some of Curty's new music for 2008 which will be released to radio over the next couple of weeks. Music came from Marianne, Alpha, Ninja Dan, Kerian Piper, Denise Belfon, Kakal, Q-Pid and Ziggy Rankin. Even Lil Rick of Barbados was able to take in the event, thanks to another failed concert for which he was brought here on the same night.

The evening would not have been possible without the generosity of a number of sponsors namely Gros-Islet MP Lenard Montoute, Tourism Minister Allen Chastanet, Coco Palm, the Rendezvous Hotel, Barbay Limited and Pulse nightclub. Curty would also like to thank his many supporters and well-wishers who came and made the party a memorable one
