Since its October 9 launch, the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition has created quite a stir and has found favour with Jamaicans. The auditions in Savanna-la-Mar, Mandeville, Ocho Rios, Portmore and Kingston brought in dancehall hopefuls by the hundreds and each Saturday night Jamaicans have been glued to their screens racking up support for their favourite contestants. Last Saturday, Magnum Tonic Wine crowned royalty by selecting Jamaica's first King and Queen of Dancehall.

According to Magnum Tonic Wine's brand manager, Gary Dixon, who was happy with the success of the show, "The Magnum Tonic Wine Kings and Queens of Dancehall is the new phenomenon. We promised it would capture the minds and talents of the Jamaican dancehall masses and it did exactly this. Congratulations to Baby Tash and Singer Jah, they have proven themselves worthy of the crown."

With the competition down to princes Senita and Singer Jah and princesses Baby Tash and Mona Lisa, it was anyone's guess who would be crowned Jamaica's first King and Queen of Dancehall, since the contestants has grown so much in delivery style and their stage presence.

When the evening's hosts Scott Wilson and Cherine Anderson stepped on stage, those in attendance at Weekenz were rife with excitement and there was a noticeable segment of supporters for the different finalists.

The grand finale showing was also quite tremendous with the season's top 10 contestants being called back for a grand finale performance. Performers included Melloquence, DJ Chromaz, Konscious, Lushus, Medallion, Mollo B, DJ, Doginal, Dayinjah and Tellah. The judging panel of Scatta, Miss Kitty and General Degree beamed with pride at how far the contestants had come. The Kameica Reid-choreographed dancers also rocked with their well-coordinated moves and guest artiste Assassin gave a good performance.

In the end Baby Tash was announced as the Queen of the Dancehall while Singer Jah was voted as the King of the Dancehall.
